Technical visits 2016

Atoms for the Future 2016 is glad to offer you the possibility to visit nuclear sites on June, 29th 2016 with facilitated access!

You will have the choice between:

  • ANDRA (French National Radioactive Waste Agency) : Cires and CSA (Very Low Level Waste Repository and Intermediate Level Waste Repository)
  • EDF : Chooz Nuclear Power Plant (a 1450MW PWR in operation and a 350MW PWR currently being dismantled)
  • EDF : Flamanville Nuclear Power Plant (2 x 1300MW PWR and Flamanville’s EPR 1650 MW currently under construction)
  • ITER : Construction site at Cadarache (ITER will be the first fusion reactor to produce net energy!)

Visit programs

EDF Chooz Program:

  • 09:30 Arrival at Chooz’s Public Information Center
  • 10:00 Presentation of EDF and Chooz NPP
  • 10:30 Visit of Chooz A (350 MW PWR) including current dismantling operations
  • 13:15 Lunch
  • 14:45 Visit of Chooz B (1450 MW PWR) including engine house and spent fuel pool
  • 17:30 Back to Public Information Center – End of the visit

 

EDF Flamanville Program:

  • 11:00 Arrival at Flamanville’s Public Information Center
  • 11:15 Presentation of EDF and Flamanville’s objectives
  • 12:00 Lunch
  • 13:30 Visit of Flamanville 1&2 (1300 MW PWR) including engine house and full-scope simulator
  • 15:00 Visit of Flamanville 3’s EPR construction site (1650 MW PWR)
  • 17:30 Back to Public Information Center – End of the visit

 

ANDRA Radioactive Waste Repositories Program:

  • Visit of the Cires (Very Low Level Waste Repository)
  • Visit of the Cires’ big components repository (for very low level waste only)
  • Visit of the CSA (Intermediate Level Waste Repository)

 

ITER fusion reactor construction site :

  • 10:00 Arrival at ITER site Visitor Centre and morning coffee
  • 10:30 Presentation of the ITER project / Q&A
  • 12:00 ITER worksite tour
  • 13:00 Lunch @ ITER canteen
  • 14:00 Virtual Reality Room
  • 15:30 End of the visit

 

Train information

For Andra:

Take the train from Paris Gare-de-l’Est (06:42) to Troyes (08:14). A bus will be waiting for you there.

The bus will bring you back to Troyes at 19:00.

Take the train from Troyes (19:20) to Paris Gare-de-l’Est (20:46).

 

For Flamanville:

Take the train from Paris St-Lazare (07:05) to Valognes (09:50). A bus will be waiting for you there.

The bus will bring you back to Valognes at 19:00.

Take the train from Valognes (19:27) to Paris St-Lazare (22:31).

 

For Chooz:

Take the train from Paris Gare-de-l’Est (07:10) to Champagne-Ardenne TGV (07:49). A bus will be waiting for you there.

The bus will bring you back to Champagne-Ardenne TGV  at 19:00.

Take the train from  Champagne-Ardenne TGV (20:41) to Paris Gare-de-l’Est (21:22).

 

For ITER: 

Take the train from Paris Gare-de-Lyon (06:07) to Aix-en-Provence TGV (09:22). A bus will be waiting for you there.

The bus will bring you back to Aix-en-Provence TGV  at 17:00.

Take the train from  Aix-en-Provence TGV (17:20) to Paris Gare-de-Lyon(20:23).

 

Hurry up and take your train tickets before it gets more expensive !
